1. Manuscripts of articles, notes, review-articles, comments, rejoinders, and book reviews—in English only—should be sent in triplicate to the Editor, The Pakistan Development Review, Post Box 1091, Islamabad-44000, Pakistan. Hard copies should be accompanied, wherever possible, with a standard diskette (preferably in MS Word). You need JavaScript enabled to view it.. Each request for a book review in the journal must be accompanied by two copies of the relevant book, which should be submitted to the Book Review Editor.


2. Manuscripts would be accepted for consideration on the understanding that they are original contributions to knowledge in social science fields..


3. So far as possible, all articles and research notes should be organised into the following sections: (i) Introduction, (ii) Basic Hypotheses, (iii) Methodological Issues involved, (iv) Basic Results, (v) Limitations of Analysis, (vi) Policy Implications, and (vii) Conclusions. Sub-sections should carry clear and distinct sub-headings.


4. Each manuscript should be typed double-spaced (except for footnotes and verbatim inset quotations) in font size 12 (MS WORD) on one side of quarto sheets, and should carry a margin of an inch and a half on the left-hand side of the typed page and of at least an inch on each of the remaining three sides.


5. The first page of the manuscript should contain: the title of the paper, the name(s) of author(s), and a footnote giving the current affiliation of the author(s) and any acknowledgements. Each article will be prefaced by a short abstract of 150 words. The abstract should state the theme and structure of the article, the approach(es) taken, the specific advance made on previous inquiries and any policy prescriptions. The abstract should be followed by JEL classification and keywords.


6. As a courtesy to referees, detailed derivations of the main mathematical results reported in the text should be submitted separately along with the articles.


7. Tables for the main text and each of its appendices should be numbered serially and separately. The title of each table as well as the captions of its columns and rows should be clearly expressive of the contents. The source of the table should be given in a footnote immediately below the line at the bottom of the table; but, unlike other footnotes, which must be numbered consecutively, it should not be numbered.


8. Footnotes should be numbered consecutively. Each appendix and each table should have a separate set of footnotes.


9. All references used in the text should be listed in the alphabetical order of the authors’ surnames at the end of the text. References in the text should include the name(s) of author(s) with the year of publication in parentheses. In all cases, the submissions should conform to the style used in this issue. 10. The author(s) of each article will receive one copy of The Pakistan Development Review and 25 offprints of the relevant contribution with the compliments of the PDR.
