Job Title: Assistant Librarian

Job Summary

The Assistant Librarian is a support-level junior position within the library division of the Pakistan Institute of Development Economics (PIDE). The role is designed to manage the circulation desk, handle the issuance and return of library materials, maintain user records, and assist in maintaining discipline in the reading hall.

  • Maintain a welcoming and professional environment at the circulation desk.
  • Manage circulation desk, ensuring timely issuance and return of library materials.
  • Generate and maintain reports on circulation statistics, including issued, returned, and overdue materials.
  • Provide basic guidance to users on how to use the library catalog and access digital resources.
  • Support the maintenance of cleanliness and orderliness in the library premises.
  • Undertake other tasks as assigned by senior library staff to support the efficient operation of the library.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Graduation (2nd Division/B-Grade) with diploma in library and information sciences from a HEC recognized university.
  • 05 years’ experience in related field.
Age: Maximum 35 Years
Technical Skills
  • Proficiency in Library Management Systems (LMS), institutional repositories, and digital cataloging.
  • Strong understanding of metadata standards, indexing, and library automation.
  • Familiarity with Open Access publishing, academic databases, and research support tools.
Soft Skills
  • Strong leadership, communication, and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with faculty, students, and administrative bodies.
  • High level of integrity, professionalism, and problem-solving ability.
