Job Title: Associate Professor
Economic Modeling and Forecasting

Job Summary

The Associate Professor of Economics with a specialization in Economic Modelling and Forecasting at PIDE will provide academic leadership in econometric modeling, macroeconomic forecasting, and policy simulations. The role includes teaching, conducting high-impact research, policy advisory, and collaboration with stakeholders to enhance data-driven economic decision-making in Pakistan.

Key Responsibilities

Teaching and Curriculum Development
  • Develop and teach courses in Economic Modelling, Forecasting Techniques, and Computational Economics at graduate and postgraduate levels.
  • Incorporate empirical methodologies, data analytics, and real-world case studies into the curriculum.
  • Supervise graduate and postgraduate students conducting research in macroeconomic modeling, econometrics, and policy forecasting.
Policy Advisory
  • Advise government ministries, central banks, and financial institutions on economic forecasting, fiscal and monetary policy simulations, and econometric modeling.
  • Develop policy frameworks for economic stability, growth projection, and crisis management.
  • Engage in policy dialogues and strategic planning initiatives to improve economic planning and decision-making processes.
Academic Leadership
  • Mentor and supervise graduate and postgraduate students in economic modeling and forecasting research.
  • Participate in academic committees and contribute to institutional development at PIDE.
  • Provide thought leadership in shaping macroeconomic modeling and predictive analytics research.
Research and Publications
  • Conduct research on macroeconomic forecasting, economic simulations, financial modeling, and predictive analytics.
  • Publish research findings in HEC-recognized, high-impact journals and present at national and international conferences.
  • Secure research grants and funding to support studies in economic forecasting, risk assessment, and computational economics.
Stakeholder Engagement
  • Collaborate with government agencies, financial sector stakeholders, and research institutions to improve economic modeling and forecasting capacity.
  • Conduct impact assessments and scenario-based policy simulations on economic growth, inflation, trade, and fiscal policies.
  • Strengthen partnerships with international research organizations, think tanks, and economic policy institutes to advance economic forecasting methodologies.
Institutional Contribution
  • Contribute to PIDE’s vision and mission through teaching, research, and policy engagement.
  • Participate in conferences, seminars, and workshops to enhance PIDE’s academic and research impact.
  • Strengthen PIDE’s role in influencing public policy through research on economic projections and fiscal planning.

Qualifications and Experience

  • PhD in Economics, Finance, or a closely related field with specialization in International Economics, International Finance, or macroeconomics from a recognized/accredited and reputable institution.
  • At least 10 years of total relevant experience, with at least 4 years of post-PhD experience
  • In addition10 research publications (with 4 publications in the past 5 years) in HEC-recognized refereed high-impact journals.
  • Demonstrated teaching excellence at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels
  • Proven experience in securing research grants and leading academic projects.
  • Proficiency in quantitative and econometric tools such as STATA, MATLAB, R, Python, Bloomberg, or EViews.
Age: Maximum 55 Years
Compliance with HEC Standards
  • Ensure all academic and research activities comply with HEC guidelines and standards.
  • Stay updated on HEC policies and contribute to institutional compliance efforts.
