Job Title: Associate Professor
Industry and Digital Economy
Job Summary
The Associate Professor of Economics with a specialization in Industry and Digital Economy at PIDE will provide academic leadership in industrial policy, digital transformation, and economic innovation. The role includes teaching, conducting high-impact research, policy advisory, and collaboration with stakeholders to enhance industrial development and digital economic growth in Pakistan.
Key Responsibilities
Teaching and Curriculum Development
- Develop and teach courses in Industry, Digital Economy, and Technological Innovation at graduate and postgraduate levels.
- Incorporate case studies and practical applications into the curriculum to ensure applied learning experiences.
- Supervise graduate and postgraduate students conducting research on industrial transformation, digital economy, and economic innovation.
Policy Advisory
- Advise government ministries, trade bodies, and international organizations on industry modernization, digital transformation, and technology-driven economic policies.
- Develop frameworks for digital economic growth and industrial competitiveness.
- Contribute to policy dialogues and strategic planning initiatives on digital economy regulations, industrial automation, and e-commerce governance.
Academic Leadership
- Mentor and supervise graduate and postgraduate students in Industry and Digital Economy research.
- Participate in academic committees and contribute to institutional development at PIDE.
- Provide thought leadership in shaping industrial economic policies and digital transformation strategies.
Research and Publications
- Conduct research on industrial development, digital transformation, and automation.
- Publish research findings in HEC-recognized, high-impact journals and present at national and international conferences.
- Secure research grants and funding to support studies in digital economy and industrial growth.
Stakeholder Engagement
- Collaborate with industry leaders, policymakers, and research institutions to bridge the gap between academia and industrial needs.
- Conduct field studies and impact assessments of digital economy and industrial policies.
- Strengthen partnerships with technology firms, industrial clusters, and economic policymakers to promote digital transformation and industrial innovation.
Institutional Contribution
- Contribute to PIDE’s vision and mission through teaching, research, and policy engagement.
- Participate in conferences, seminars, and workshops to enhance PIDE’s academic and research impact.
- Strengthen PIDE’s role in influencing public policy through research on industrial innovation and digital economic policies.
Qualifications and Experience
- PhD in Economics, Finance, or a closely related field with specialization in International Economics, International Finance, or macroeconomics from a recognized/accredited and reputable institution.
- At least 10 years of total relevant experience, with at least 4 years of post-PhD experience
- In addition10 research publications (with 4 publications in the past 5 years) in HEC-recognized refereed high-impact journals.
- Demonstrated teaching excellence at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels
- Proven experience in securing research grants and leading academic projects.
- Proficiency in quantitative and econometric tools such as STATA, MATLAB, R, Python, Bloomberg, or EViews.
Age: Maximum 55 Years
Compliance with HEC Standards
- Ensure all academic and research activities comply with HEC guidelines and standards.
- Stay updated on HEC policies and contribute to institutional compliance efforts.
