Logistics and Infrastructure

Job Summary

The Associate Professor of Economics with a specialization in Logistics and Infrastructure at PIDE will provide academic leadership in transport economics, trade logistics, infrastructure development, and supply chain management. The role includes teaching, conducting high-impact research, policy advisory, and collaboration with stakeholders to enhance sustainable infrastructure and efficient logistics systems in Pakistan.

Key Responsibilities

Teaching and Curriculum Development
  • Develop and teach courses in Logistics, Infrastructure Economics, and Trade Facilitation at graduate and postgraduate levels.
  • Incorporate case studies, applied methodologies, and industry best practices into the curriculum to enhance learning experiences.
  • Supervise graduate and postgraduate students conducting research in transportation economics, infrastructure development, and trade logistics.
Policy Advisory
  • Advise government ministries, transport authorities, and international organizations on logistics efficiency, infrastructure financing, and trade competitiveness.
  • Develop policy frameworks for sustainable and smart infrastructure development.
  • Engage in policy dialogues and strategic planning initiatives for trade logistics, connectivity, and supply chain improvements.
Academic Leadership
  • Mentor and supervise graduate and postgraduate students in logistics and infrastructure research.
  • Participate in academic committees and contribute to institutional development at PIDE.
  • Provide thought leadership in shaping logistics policy research and infrastructure planning.
Research and Publications
  • Conduct research on transportation infrastructure, urban logistics, trade efficiency, and supply chain resilience.
  • Publish research findings in HEC-recognized, high-impact journals and present at national and international conferences.
  • Secure research grants and funding to support studies in infrastructure planning and logistics optimization.
Stakeholder Engagement
  • Collaborate with logistics firms, policymakers, and infrastructure planners to enhance national and regional connectivity.
  • Conduct field studies and impact assessments of transportation and logistics projects.
  • Strengthen partnerships with international research institutions, industry leaders, and trade bodies to drive innovation in logistics and infrastructure development.
Institutional Contribution
  • Contribute to PIDE’s vision and mission through teaching, research, and policy engagement.
  • Participate in conferences, seminars, and workshops to enhance PIDE’s academic and research impact.
  • Strengthen PIDE’s role in influencing public policy through research on infrastructure investment and logistics optimization.

Qualifications and Experience

  • PhD in Economics, Finance, or a closely related field with specialization in International Economics, International Finance, or macroeconomics from a recognized/accredited and reputable institution.
  • At least 10 years of total relevant experience, with at least 4 years of post-PhD experience
  • In addition10 research publications (with 4 publications in the past 5 years) in HEC-recognized refereed high-impact journals.
  • Demonstrated teaching excellence at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels
  • Proven experience in securing research grants and leading academic projects.
  • Proficiency in quantitative and econometric tools such as STATA, MATLAB, R, Python, Bloomberg, or EViews.
Age: Maximum 55 Years
Compliance with HEC Standards
  • Ensure all academic and research activities comply with HEC guidelines and standards.
  • Stay updated on HEC policies and contribute to institutional compliance efforts.
