Job Title: Joint Librarian
Job Summary
The Joint Librarian is a support-level junior position within the library division of the Pakistan Institute of Development Economics (PIDE). The role is designed to assist in the day-to-day operations of the library, focusing on tasks related to shelving, record maintenance, user assistance, and maintaining discipline in the reading hall. The Joint Librarian will work under the supervision of senior library staff and ensure the smooth functioning of library services for PIDE’s faculty, researchers, students, and other stakeholders.

- Shelve books, journals, and other library materials accurately according to the library’s classification system.
- Ensure that all materials are properly organized and easily accessible to users.
- Conduct regular shelf-reading to maintain order and identify misplaced items.
- Assist in generating reports on inventory, circulation, and usage statistics from the LMS.
- Support the labeling and barcoding of new library materials.
- Monitor the reading hall to ensure a quiet and conducive environment for study and research.
- Undertake other tasks as assigned by senior library staff to support the efficient operation of the library.
Qualifications and Experience
- Master’s degree (16 years) with 2 class / B-grade in library sciences / information Sciences
- 02 years post qualification professional experience in research or university library.
Age: Maximum 35 Years
Technical Skills
- Proficiency in Library Management Systems (LMS), institutional repositories, and digital cataloging.
- Strong understanding of metadata standards, indexing, and library automation.
- Familiarity with Open Access publishing, academic databases, and research support tools.
Soft Skills
- Strong leadership, communication, and decision-making skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with faculty, students, and administrative bodies.
- High level of integrity, professionalism, and problem-solving ability.
