Job Title: Professor
Economics with Specialization in Behavioral and Experimental Economics
Job Summary
The Professor of Economics with a specialization in Behavioral and Experimental Economics at PIDE will be responsible for conducting cutting-edge research, delivering high-quality teaching, and engaging with industry and policymakers to advance the understanding of human decision-making in economic contexts. The role involves designing and conducting laboratory, field, and online experiments to explore economic behaviors related to risk-taking, market behavior, financial decision-making, consumer psychology, policy interventions, and game theory. Professor will contribute to curriculum development, publish in top-tier journals, secure research funding, and mentor students in behavioral and experimental economic research. The position is ideal for a highly motivated academic with expertise in behavioral finance, experimental game theory, neuroeconomics, digital consumer behavior, and policy-oriented behavioral economics
Key Responsibilities
Teaching and Curriculum Development
- Develop, design, and teach courses to graduate and postgraduate students in:
- Behavioural Economics
- Experimental Economics
- Neuroeconomics and Decision Science
- Game Theory and Strategic Behaviour
- Behavioural Finance and Investment Psychology
- Cognitive Biases in Economic Decision-Making
- Market Design and Mechanism Experiments
- Incorporate experimental methods, field studies, and psychology into the curriculum to enhance learning experiences.
- Use interactive teaching methods such as behavioural simulations, decision-making games, lab experiments, and case studies.
- Develop a behavioural and experimental economics laboratory within the university.
Industry and Policy Engagement
- Collaborate with government agencies, central banks, financial institutions, and corporate organizations to apply behavioral insights to policy design, taxation, financial markets, and consumer behavior.
- Provide expert consulting on nudge theory, market incentives, behavioral public policy, and corporate decision-making.
- Work with regulatory bodies and consumer protection agencies to analyze irrational behaviors in markets, consumer biases, and financial fraud prevention.
- Engage in experimental design for corporate decision-making, product pricing strategies, and behavioral marketing research.
Institutional Contribution
- Contribute to PIDE’s vision and mission through teaching, research, and policy engagement.
- Participate in conferences, seminars, and workshops to enhance PIDE’s academic reputation in behavioral economics.
- Strengthen PIDE’s role in influencing public policy through behavioral insights.

Research and Publications
- Conduct laboratory, field, and online experiments to study decision-making in economic contexts.
- Publish in top-tier peer-reviewed journals (e.g., Journal of Economic Behavior & Organization, Experimental Economics, Behavioral and Brain Sciences or in HEC recognized journals).
- Lead interdisciplinary research projects that combine psychology, cognitive science, and economics.
- Present research findings at global economic forums, academic conferences, and policy roundtables.
- Seek and secure research grants and funding to advance experimental and behavioral economic studies.
Academic Leadership & Service
- Serve on university committees, accreditation panels, and strategic academic planning teams.
- Establish and lead a Behavioral and Experimental Economics Research Center.
- Organize workshops, research seminars, and conferences on behavioral and experimental economics.
- Foster collaborations with psychologists, neuroscientists, policymakers, and computational social scientists.
- Mentor junior faculty and students and contribute to faculty/ students development programs.
- Promote diversity, equity, and inclusion within the PIDE.
Compliance with HEC Standards
- Ensure all academic and research activities comply with HEC guidelines and standards.
- Stay updated on HEC policies and contribute to institutional compliance efforts.

Qualifications & Experience
- Ph.D. in Economics, Behavioral Economics, or Experimental Economics from a recognized university.
- Minimum 11 years post-PhD/relevant terminal qualification experience or at least 7 years post-PhD experience with 12 years of total professional experience, including teaching/research at a recognized university, research institute, or international organization.
- At least 15 research publications (with 5 publications in the past 5 years) in HEC-recognized refereed high-impact journals.
- Demonstrated excellence in teaching and student mentoring at graduate and postgraduate levels.
- Extensive experience with experimental design, data analysis, and computational modeling in economics.
- Strong proficiency in statistical software (e.g., R, Python, Stata, MATLAB, z-Tree, oTree).
Age: Maximum 55 Years
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior tenured faculty experience at a reputable institution.
- Experience in leading behavioral research labs and experimental studies.
- Strong network with government agencies, financial institutions, and policy think tanks.
- Experience in securing large-scale research grants and industry collaborations.
- Experience with machine learning, AI-driven behavioral analysis, and neuroeconomic tools.
