Job Summary

The Professor of Finance (FinTech) at PIDE will be responsible for conducting high-quality research, teaching graduate and postgraduate courses, and engaging with industry and policymakers to explore innovations in financial technology, digital banking, and global economic policies. The role involves supervising research projects, publishing in HEC recognized top-tier journals, securing research grants, and fostering interdisciplinary collaboration in the fields of blockchain, cryptocurrencies, financial analytics, algorithmic trading, and AI-driven economic modeling. The position is ideal for a distinguished academic with a strong background in traditional finance, economic theory, and emerging financial technologies and a passion for preparing students for the future of global finance.

Key Responsibilities

Teaching and Curriculum Development
  • Design, develop and teach graduate and postgraduate courses in:
  1. Financial Economics
  2. FinTech and Digital Finance
  3. Blockchain and Cryptocurrencies
  4. Artificial Intelligence (AI) in Financial Markets
  5. Algorithmic and High-Frequency Trading
  6. Big Data Analytics in Finance
  7. Risk Management & RegTech (Regulatory Technology)
  • Develop innovations and data-driven teaching methodologies using hands-on application of FinTech tools and frameworks.
  • Supervise graduate and postgraduate students in research projects related to finance, FinTech, and economic modelling.
  • Create and update curriculum to reflect emerging trends in financial markets, blockchain, AI-driven finance, and decentralized finance (DeFi).
  • Integrate financial software and platforms like Python, R, MATLAB, Bloomberg, Stata, Solidity, and AI-based trading models into coursework.

 

Industry and Policy Engagement
  • Collaborate with financial institutions, FinTech startups, regulatory bodies, and State Bank to explore real-world application of digital finance.
  • Advise policymakers and financial regulators on digital banking, AI-driven risk assessments, and regulatory frameworks for FinTech innovations.
  • Organize workshops, training programs, and executive courses for financial professionals and students on blockchain, financial AI applications, FinTech and global economic disruptions.
  • Establish partnerships with private sector stakeholders to develop practical FinTech solutions and promote financial innovation.
  • Engage in consulting, policy advising, and think tank collaborations on financial inclusion, economic growth, and FinTech regulations.
Institutional Contribution
  • Contribute to PIDE’s vision and mission through teaching, research, and policy engagement.
  • Participate in conferences, seminars, and workshops to enhance PIDE’s academic reputation in FinTech and digital finance.
  • Strengthen  PIDE’s  role  in  influencing  public policy  on  financial  technology  and  economic digitalization.

Research and Publications

Academic Leadership & Service
  • Serve on PIDE academic Committees, and strategic planning to enhance capacity of PIDE.
  • Lead initiatives to establish FinTech labs, AI-driven research centers, or digital economy think tanks within the university.
  • Mentor junior faculty members, contribute to faculty development programs and supervise graduate and postgraduate students in finance and FinTech-related disciplines.
  • Provide thought leadership in shaping FinTech education and research at PIDE.
  • Promote diversity, equity, and inclusion with in PIDE and other national and international organizations
Compliance with HEC Standards
  • Ensure all academic and research activities comply with HEC guidelines and standards.
  • Stay updated on HEC policies and contribute to institutional compliance efforts.

Qualifications & Experience

  • PhD in Economics, Finance, or a closely related field with specialization in International Economics, International Finance, or macroeconomics from a recognized/accredited and reputable institution.
  • Minimum 11 years post-PhD/relevant terminal qualification experience or at least 7 years post-PhD experience with 12 years of total professional experience, including teaching/research at a recognized university, research institute, or international organization.
  • At least 15 research publications (with 5 publications in the past 5 years) in HEC-recognized refereed high-impact journals.
  • Demonstrated excellence in teaching at graduate and postgraduate levels.
  • Experience with FinTech applications, digital currencies, blockchain technologies, and algorithmic trading.
  • Strong background in quantitative analysis, econometrics, and machine learning techniques for finance.
Age: Maximum 55 Years
Preferred Qualifications
  • Prior tenured faculty experience at a top-ranked university.
  • Strong network with central banks, financial institutions, venture capital firms, and FinTech startups.
  • Experience in securing large-scale research grants and industry collaborations.
  • Proficiency in programming languages (Python, R, Solidity, MATLAB) and financial modeling software.
  • Experience in FinTech consulting, blockchain research, or AI-driven economic policy advising.
