Public Policy and Governance

Job Summary

The Professor of Public Policy and Governance at PIDE will be responsible for conducting cutting-edge research, delivering high-quality instruction, and engaging with policymakers, government agencies, and international organizations to advance the study and practice of good governance, public administration, and policy analysis. The role involves developing curriculum, supervising research, leading policy initiatives, securing research grants, and contributing to institutional and governmental policy debates. The position is ideal for a distinguished academic with expertise in policy design and implementation, public sector reform, governance mechanisms, institutional development, regulatory frameworks, and evidence-based policymaking. The candidate should have a strong background in public administration, political economy, legal frameworks, and the role of technology in governance.

Key Responsibilities

Teaching and Curriculum Development
  • Design and deliver graduate, and doctoral-level courses in:
  1. Public Policy Analysis
  2. Governance and Institutional Reforms
  3. Comparative Public Administration
  4. Policy Design and Implementation
  5. Economic and Social Policy
  6. Political Economy of Development
  7. Digital Governance and E-Government
  • Develop case studies, policy simulations, and interactive learning materials to enhance student engagement.
  • Supervise master’s, and Ph.D. students in research projects on public policy and governance.
  • Establish and develop new academic programs, specializations, and executive training courses in public policy and governance.

 

Policy Advisory & Government Engagement
  • Act as a policy advisor to government agencies, NGOs, and international institutions on governance reform, decentralization, regulatory policies, and policy effectiveness.
  • Provide expertise in public sector innovation, evidence-based policymaking, and impact evaluation of government programs.
  • Engage with local, national, and international policymakers to contribute to legislative reforms, institutional capacity-building, and governance best practices.
  • Conduct policy impact assessments and advise on strategies for improving government efficiency and accountability.
Research and Publications
  • Conduct policy-oriented research on governance, institutional reforms, regulatory policies, public service delivery, and international development.
  • Publish in top-tier peer-reviewed journals (e.g., Journal of Public Administration, Public Policy and Governance Review, Policy Studies Journal as per approved journal of HEC).
  • Lead interdisciplinary research projects and collaborate with economists, political scientists, legal experts, and data analysts.
  • Secure external research grants from national and international funding agencies such as the World Bank, IMF, United Nations, OECD, and government research councils.
  • Present research findings at global policy forums, academic conferences, and think tank events.
Academic Leadership & Institutional Development
  • Serve on PIDE academic committees, and advisory panels to contribute to academic governance and institutional planning.
  • Develop and lead centers for policy research, public administration studies, and governance innovation labs within the university.
  • Organize workshops, policy dialogues, and high-level conferences on emerging governance and policy challenges.
  • Foster partnerships with public and private sector organizations, including universities, think tanks, and development agencies.
  • Mentor junior faculty members and contribute to faculty development initiatives.
  • Promote diversity, equity, and inclusion in public policy education and research.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Ph.D. in Economics, Public Policy, Political Science, Governance Studies, Public Administration, or a related field.
  • Minimum 11 years post-PhD/relevant terminal qualification experience or at least 7 years post-PhD experience with 12 years of total professional experience, including teaching/research at a recognized university, research institute, or international organization.
  • At least 15 research publications (with 5 publications in the past 5 years) in HEC-recognized refereed high-impact journals.
  • Demonstrated excellence in teaching and student mentoring at undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
  • Experience in policy consulting, government advisory roles, or policy implementation.
  • Strong background in quantitative and qualitative policy analysis methods.
Age: Maximum 55 Years

  • Prior tenured faculty experience at a leading university.
  • Experience in securing large-scale research grants and leading policy-driven research projects.
  • Strong professional network with government agencies, international organizations, and policy research institutes.
  • Proficiency in policy modeling, impact assessment techniques, and governance data analytics.
  • Experience in public-private partnerships, regulatory policy, and institutional reform initiatives.
