Job Title: Staff Economist / Demographer
Exports and Global Value Chains

Job Summary

The Staff Economist/Demographer (Exports and Global Value Chains) will be an integral part of PIDE’s research team, contributing to empirical and policy-oriented research in economic development, demographic change, and social structures. This is an entry-level research position aimed at individuals with strong analytical skills and a keen interest in policy-relevant research. The selected candidate will work under the guidance of senior researchers, assisting in data collection, analysis, and dissemination of findings.

Key Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the Institute’s research agenda as per the annual research plan.
  • Assist in quantitative and qualitative research on economic development, population dynamics, and social transformations.
  • Conduct literature reviews, data collection, preliminary analysis to support research.
  • Work with datasets, census data, survey instruments to analyze economic, social trends.
  • Support the development of policy briefs, reports, and working papers.
  • Contribute to fieldwork, surveys, and stakeholder consultations, as required.
  • Assist in organizing seminars, workshops, policy dialogues on relevant research topics.
  • Collaborate with senior researchers to prepare grant proposals and funding applications.
  • Stay updated on emerging research methodologies and global best practices in the field.
  • Any other tasks assigned by institute Senior Management

Qualification & Experience

  • 16 years of education with specialization in Exports and Global Value Chains.
  • Sound research skills and prior relevant experience along with proficiency in use of statistical tools such as stata, R, etc
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong written and verbal communications with strong command on English Language.
  • Ability to flexibly work on and lead a range of assignments simultaneously.
