Job Summary

The Translator is responsible for translating academic, administrative, and official university documents, ensuring accuracy, clarity, and consistency in multiple languages. The role involves translating research papers, policies, correspondence, website content, and publications while preserving the meaning and intent of the original text. The Translator will work closely with faculty, students, administrative departments, and external stakeholders to facilitate multilingual communication and uphold the university’s international standards.

Key Responsibilities

Translation & Interpretation Services
  • Translate academic, legal, and administrative documents, including research papers, policies, agreements, and official reports.
  • Interpret verbal communication in meetings, conferences, and academic discussions, ensuring accuracy and cultural sensitivity.
  • Ensure consistency in terminology and style across all translated materials.
University Communications & Publications
  • Translate university websites, newsletters, brochures, and official announcements for a global audience.
  • Assist in the translation of press releases, speeches, and promotional materials.
  • Ensure translated content maintains the university’s branding and communication tone.
Multilingual Support for Internationalization
  • Support international collaborations by translating MOUs, agreements, and correspondence with foreign universities.
  • Facilitate communication between international students, faculty, and administrative staff.
  • Assist in the development of multilingual course materials and e-learning resources.
Technology & Digital Tools Management
  • Utilize translation software, CAT (Computer-Assisted Translation) tools, and AI-assisted translation programs.
  • Maintain university translation archives and digital repositories for multilingual content.
  • Stay updated with advancements in translation technology and best practices.
Academic & Research Support
  • Assist faculty and students in translating research articles, theses, and dissertations for publication in international journals.
  • Translate abstracts, conference presentations, and academic collaborations.
  • Work with editorial teams to refine and proofread multilingual academic content.
Legal & Compliance Translation
  • Translate university regulations, policies, contracts, and agreements while maintaining legal accuracy.
  • Ensure compliance with local and international language standards in legal and policy documents.
  • Work closely with legal and administrative teams to verify the correctness of translated content.
Editing & Proofreading
  • Review translated content for linguistic accuracy, grammar, and cultural appropriateness.
  • Maintain a glossary of frequently used academic and technical terms to ensure consistency.
  • Proofread and edit translations to ensure they meet professional and academic standards.

Qualification & Experience

  • Master’s degree with 2nd Division / B-Grade in Translation, Linguistics, Applied Languages, or a relevant field.
  • Certification in professional translation (e.g., ATA, ITI, NAATI) is preferred.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in professional translation, preferably in an academic or research environment.
  • Experience in translating complex academic and legal documents.
  • Proven expertise in multilingual communication within higher education institutions.
Age: Maximum 45 Years
Technical Skills
  • Proficiency in at least two or more languages (e.g., English, Arabic, French, Spanish, Chinese, or any relevant regional language).
  • Expertise in translation software (SDL Trados, MemoQ, Smartcat, Google Translate API).
  • Strong knowledge of academic terminology, legal documents, and scholarly publishing standards.
Soft Skills
  • Excellent attention to detail and linguistic accuracy.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to work with diverse stakeholders.
  • Ability to handle confidential and sensitive documents with discretion.
  • Time management and the ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously.
