The Education Sector in Pakistan
Publication Year : 1989
The education scene in Pakistan, during the past four decades, has been characterized by substantial quantitative expansion at all levels. But this expansion has not brought about the kind of transformation envisaged in the various plan documents and government policies. In fact, the educational system has barely kept pace with the rapid growth of the school-age population. And the expansion in educational services has been accompanied by a deterioration in the quality of education, reflected, in the least, by the inability of an increasing proportion of students to complete the prescribed courses in the allotted time.
