Job Title: Assistant Professor/Senior Research Economist

Job Summary

The Assistant Professor/Senior Research Economist with a specialization in Agriculture Economics at PIDE will lead and contribute to high-quality, policy-relevant research on the agriculture sector and climate change implications in the agriculture sector. The role involves producing high-quality research outputs, mentoring students and junior researchers, and actively contributing to policy debates. The position also entails a strategic role in institutional development and sustained engagement with policymakers, ensuring that research outputs align with global academic and research standards.

Key Responsibilities

Teaching & Research
  • Conduct high-quality research in respective specialization areas and contribute to theoretical and applied economics.
  • Publish in HEC-recognized, high-impact journals and participate in national and international academic forums.
  • Secure research grants and funding from national and international agencies.
  • Engage in multidisciplinary research collaborations with domestic and international institutions.
Institutional Contribution and Service
  • Participate in university committees, boards, and faculty meetings.
  • Contribute to faculty development, mentoring, and academic networking.
  • Organize and participate in seminars, workshops, and conferences at national and international levels.
  • Support PIDE’s mission of fostering economic and social development through research and education.
Policy Advisory and Engagement
  • Provide expert advice to policymakers, government agencies, and development organizations in relevant fields.
  • Contribute to policy dialogues, white papers, and policy briefs to bridge academic research and policymaking.
  • Participate in public policy discussions and contribute to PIDE’s thought leadership initiatives.
Compliance with HEC and International Standards
  • Ensure compliance with HEC policies, academic standards, and accreditation requirements.
  • Stay updated on global developments in economics and interdisciplinary research.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement in teaching, research, and professional development.

Qualifications and Experience

i. PhD in Economics, Agricultural Economics, or relevant field from a reputable foreign or national HEC recognized university; and
a) No experience or publications are required.

OR

ii. Without a PhD, the candidate must have:

a) 18 years of education with relevant specialization;

b) 05 years of post-qualification relevant experience; and

c) Published at least two regular articles in internationally reputed HEC recognised journals.

Age: Maximum 50 years

  2. Ability to work in a team of researchers.
  3. Strong written and verbal communications with a strong command of the English Language.
  4. Ability to flexibly work on and lead a range of assignments simultaneously
