6-Week Training Program of Research Officers (BPS-17)

The Six-Week Induction Training Programme for Research Officers (Economist Group – BPS-17) is designed to equip newly inducted officers with the analytical, professional, and managerial competencies required to contribute effectively to evidence-based policymaking and development planning in Pakistan. The Programme integrates economic policy analysis, development planning, research tools, and public sector governance frameworks, while also emphasizing the development of professional behavior and workplace effectiveness.

The training combines technical knowledge with practical exposure, enabling participants to understand the structure of Pakistan’s economy, the macroeconomic policy environment, and the processes through which development policies are formulated, implemented, and evaluated. Participants will gain hands-on exposure to data analysis, research methods, public investment management, and project cycle management, which are essential for supporting policy formulation in the Ministry of Planning and related institutions.

Furthermore, the Programme includes institutional visits and attachments with federal ministries and divisions, enabling participants to gain first-hand exposure to policy implementation, sectoral challenges, and coordination mechanisms within the government.

Overall, the training aims to develop competent, analytically strong, technologically aware, and professionally groomed policy officers who can contribute effectively to Pakistan’s development planning and economic policymaking.
