Job Title: Director (ORIC)

Job Summary

The Director of Research, Innovation, and Commercialization (DRIC) will be responsible for leading and managing the Istitutes’s research activities, fostering innovation, and ensuring effective commercialization of research outcomes. The position involves developing research strategies, securing funding, strengthening industry-academia linkages, protecting intellectual property, and promoting entrepreneurship and technology transfer. The DRIC plays a critical role in shaping the university’s research culture, ensuring compliance with national and international research standards, and transforming academic research into real-world applications that contribute to economic and social development.

Key Responsibilities

Research Leadership & Grant Acquisition
  • Develop and implement PIDER-wide research policies and strategies.
  • Facilitate faculty in securing research grants from national and international funding agencies.
  • Establish interdisciplinary research clusters and promote collaborative research efforts.
  • Ensure compliance with research ethics, national policies, and funding agency regulations.
Research Performance Monitoring & Compliance
  • Implement key performance indicators (KPIs) for faculty research productivity, citation impact, and funding success.
  • Ensure compliance with Higher Education Commission (HEC) policies, research integrity guidelines, and ethical standards.
  • Conduct research audits, reports, and benchmarking studies to evaluate research performance.
Industry-Academia Linkages & Commercialization
  • Develop partnerships with industry leaders, corporations, government agencies, and research institutions to foster collaboration.
  • Oversee the commercialization of research, and establish Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) and joint ventures with the private sector for research development.
  • Lead efforts in creating market-driven research and applied R&D initiatives.
  • Establish and manage Institute business incubators, technology parks, and startup support programs.
  • Develop and implement programs to support entrepreneurial ventures and spin-offs.
Capacity Building & Training
  • Organize workshops, conferences, and seminars to promote research excellence.
  • Provide training on grant writing, proposal development, and research methodologies.

Qualifications and Experience

  • PhD. in Social Sciences, Business Education preferably in Economics from reputed HEC-recognized National/International University
  • At least 10+ years of experience in research management, academic administration, innovation ecosystems, or commercialization activities.
  • Proven track record of securing research grants, leading research projects, and developing industry-academia collaborations. Experience working with national and international funding agencies, strong understanding of innovation management, startup incubation, and entrepreneurial ecosystems, leadership experience in university research offices, ORICs, or R&D organizations will be preferred.
