GBII is the first-of-its kind private sector-led platform dedicated to the facilitation of impact investments in Gilgit Baltistan, Pakistan. Staying true to its tagline of People.Nature.Value, GBII aims to drive sustainable development across the region, financing six key sectors of the economy to generate inclusive socio-economic benefits while preserving the region’s fragile ecosystem. The GBII consortium is led by Rupani Foundation and Reenergia, with Pakistan Institute of Economic Development and Karakorum International University as its knowledge partners. GBII has been officially launched on 29 November 2021, at the National Press Club, Islamabad, with a formal show of support from the Board of Investment (BOI), Pakistan. In its first phase, GBII aims to bring in investments worth USD 100 million from 2022 to 2023 while arranging a series of events to promote GB as a hotbed for value/ESG investing, including GBII Conference 2022 to be held in March and a series of hybrid roadshow webinars for engagement with Pakistani diaspora, international investors, donors, and development banks/organizations.
