While speaking at the occasion Dr. Sundus Saleemi said that Gender development is an interdisciplinary field of research& applied study that implements a feminist approach to understanding and addressing the disparate impact that economic development and globalization have on people based upon their location, gender, class background, and socio-political identities.
Gender & Development as a field of inquiry has evolved from Monolithic lens to Polylithic lens. Development is not gender-neutral, Its outcomes create layered gender inequalities, she noted.
