ICT Infrastructure

The ICT Division has developed a state-of-the-art Local Area Network (LAN) with over 600 nodes, ensuring seamless connectivity across the campus through high-speed Gigabit Ethernet and wireless internet via strategically placed Wireless Access Points. Broadband internet connectivity is provided by HEC as part of the Pakistan Education & Research Network (PERN), enabling high-speed and reliable access to academic resources.
At the Dr. A. R. Kemal Seminar Hall, a range of online and hybrid facilities are available, including:
- Live-streamed lectures
- Online Thesis Defenses
- Hybrid Seminars & Webinars
- Online Working Papers and Net Meetings using IP-based video conferencing
To ensure uninterrupted operations, the campus is equipped with multiple UPS units and a generator, providing 24/7 power backup. Each classroom is outfitted with smart screens, multimedia projectors, and CCTV cameras, enhancing both learning and security.
The ICT Division provides a comprehensive range of digital services to students, faculty, and staff, including:
- High-speed internet access (100 MBPS fiber-optic broadband)
- Official email accounts for students, faculty, and staff
- Centralized data storage and access to digital resources
- Printing and scanning facilities
- Access to PIDE Library’s bibliographic database
- HEC Digital Library access via campus LAN and VPN, including:
- JSTOR, ProQuest, E-Library, Springer Link, Taylor & Francis, Wiley Inter Science, and ASTM International
- IMF Statistical Database
- World Bank E-Library and Global Development Finance (GDF Online)
- World Development Indicators (WDI Online)
Software and Computing Resources
PIDE provides access to a wide range of essential software for academic and research purposes, including:
- Statistical & Econometric Tools: SPSS, STATA, SHAZAM, TSP, EViews, GAMS
- Mathematical & Analytical Tools: Mathematica, MATLAB
- Project Management Tools: MS Project
- Productivity Software: Microsoft Office Suite
Through HEC’s Microsoft Education Alliance, students and faculty can download genuine Microsoft software at subsidized rates or free of cost via the “Microsoft for All” portal on the PIDE website. Additional software can also be arranged upon request.
The ICT Division’s support team is always available to assist with troubleshooting and technical issues.
The ICT Division manages three state-of-the-art computer labs, offering modern computing resources to students and staff:
- One dedicated lab for Ph.D. students
- Two labs for M.Phil., M.Sc., and MBA students
Every staff member and registered student receives:
- A login account to access the Local Area Network (LAN)
- An official email account
- Full access to ICT services
Each computer lab is equipped with 20+ Core i7 desktop computers and network LaserJet printers. Additionally, a high-performance color laser printer and a scanner are available in one of the labs. Software installations can be arranged as per the specific needs of students and researchers.
The ICT Division provides dedicated 100 MBPS broadband internet connectivity via fiber optic cables for academic and research-related activities.
For official email services, PIDE operates three domains:
- pide.org.pk (for staff)
- pide.edu.pk (for students and faculty)
- pidealumni.edu.pk (for alumni)
Users can access their email via a web browser or an email client such as Microsoft Outlook or Google-based solutions. Additionally, group email accounts such as [email protected], [email protected], [email protected], and [email protected] are used for inter-office communication and announcements.
The ICT Division has established a world-class video conferencing lecture room in collaboration with HEC under the project “Online Lecturing and Net-Meeting using IP-Based Video Conferencing System”. This facility allows students to:
- Attend Lectures from Renowned Scholars
- Engage in Interactive Discussions
- Share & Collaborate on Research Projects
This initiative enhances the learning experience and contributes to raising academic standards at PIDE.
The Video Conferencing Room, named after former PIDE Director Dr. A. R. Kemal, has a seating capacity of 40-50 people and is frequently used for:
- Conferences & seminars
- Academic Discussions
- Administrative Meetings
By leveraging this state-of-the-art video conferencing system, PIDE effectively reduces costs and time associated with academic and administrative interactions.

1) First Connect PIDE VPN Application (Easy Connect) from your Computer/Laptop by putting the VPN Username and password which is already emailed to you.
2) In the VPN Application (Easy Connect) Resources, Please Click on Data Bank from your Laptop/Desktop.
3) After clicking on Data Bank, A Dialog Box will appear, Please put in your VPN username and password to access the Data Bank Resources.
The ICT Division provides access to International Monetary Fund (IMF) Data bank from PIDE campus LAN. It can be used to find Exchange Rates, IMF Accounts, Foreign Exchange, Total Reserves minus Gold, Gold (Million Fine Troy Ounces), Total Reserves, Money, Interest Rates, Consumer Prices, Exports, Imports, Industrial Production, Export Unit Values, Import Unit Values, Country Tables, Monthly Notes (RTF), World Tables, Front Matter, Yearbook Notes and other PDF resources you may need.
The ICT Division staff provides guidance in analyzing the data set and different levels of support in data handling to Researchers and students of PIDE. Fifty data sets are available in the PIDE data bank for use of the students and other research staff. Data sets are available offline. Major data sets are:

The Time Use Survey takes exhaustive stock of the round the clock activities of the everyday life.
It has generated a wealth of data to provide empirical perspective for a wide range of socio-economic
pursuits and research objectives.
